What is AEO-LO Certification?
The Authorized Economic Operator – Logistics Operator (AEO-LO) Certification is a recognition granted under the AEO Programme by Indian Customs (CBIC) to logistics service providers involved in international supply chain operations. This includes entities such as freight forwarders, customs brokers (CHA), warehouse operators, transporters, and terminal operators.
The AEO programme is aligned with the World Customs Organization (WCO) framework and is designed to enhance supply chain security and facilitate faster, more efficient cross-border trade.
AEO-LO certification signifies that a logistics operator maintains high standards of customs compliance, security, and operational control. Certified entities are recognized as trusted partners by customs authorities, which results in benefits such as reduced inspections, faster cargo clearance, and improved supply chain predictability.
In addition to operational efficiency, AEO-LO certification also enhances the credibility of logistics companies in the global market, positioning them as reliable and compliant trade partners.
Who Can Apply For TheAEO-LO Certification?
The AEO LO certification is open to a variety of entities involved in logistics and supply chain operations, including:
Logistics Service Providers: Companies that offer transportation and warehousing services.

Warehouse Operators: Companies dealing in storage of goods in warehouses awaiting to be shipped or transported to outlets.

What Is The AEO LO Certificate's Period Of Validity ?
The AEO-LO certification is typically valid for a period of five years from the date of approval. It is specifically applicable to logistics operators such as freight forwarders, customs brokers (CHA), warehouse operators, and terminal operators.
To continue enjoying the benefits of AEO status, the certified entity must apply for renewal before the expiry of the certificate. It is recommended to submit the renewal application at least 90 days in advance to ensure uninterrupted benefits and continued compliance with customs requirements.
Maintaining AEO status requires ongoing adherence to security standards, customs compliance, and operational procedures as prescribed under the AEO Programme.
